About the Cure It system
Cure It is a cold-applied GRP roofing system from Cure It Composites. Cure It Roofing Resin and reinforcement mat are laid together on site over an OSB3 deck to form a single seamless laminate. The roof is then finished with GRP edge trims and a coat of pre-pigmented Cure It Topcoat.
Key information
- 600 g Heavy Duty is the mat weight Cure It specifies for heavy foot traffic, for example walkways and balconies. For most other roofs, the 450 g Standard Duty kit is the standard specification.
- Guarantee: Cure It materials carry a 20-year materials guarantee from the manufacturer when installed as specified and in line with the Cure It guarantee conditions.
- Hardener: this kit contains summer-grade hardener. Cure It's guidance is to use winter hardener in cold weather. Always add between 1 % and 4 % hardener to both resin and topcoat, measured with the safety dispenser.
- Fire rating: the Cure It roofing system is classified BROOF(t4).
- Weather: only lay Cure It in dry conditions and on a dry deck. The resin will not cure at or below freezing.
- Training: Cure It recommends training before installing your first roof.
How to install
- Prepare the deck. Strip the old roof back to the joists and fix 18 mm OSB3 tongue-and-groove boards, gap face up, with staggered joints and a 25 mm expansion gap against walls. The deck must be completely dry.
- Fit the GRP edge trims. Bond them around the whole perimeter with trim adhesive, then bandage the joints between trim sections and between the trims and the deck.
- Mix the resin. In a mixing area off the roof, add 1–4 % hardener measured with the safety dispenser and stir well. Mixed resin generally gives 20–40 minutes of working time.
- Laminate. Coat the deck with resin, lay the mat into it and consolidate with a paddle roller until the mat turns transparent. Never lay mat onto a dry deck.
- Topcoat. Lightly sand the laminate with 40-grit paper, add hardener to the topcoat and apply it.

Frequently asked questions
What else do I need besides this kit?
An 18 mm OSB3 tongue-and-groove deck, GRP edge trims and trim adhesive, acetone for cleaning, a mixing bucket, rollers and brushes, and PPE including goggles and gloves. None of these are in the kit.
Which mat weight should I choose?
450 g Standard Duty suits most roofs. Cure It specifies 600 g Heavy Duty for heavy foot traffic, such as walkways and balconies. Our 900 g Balcony kits use two layers of 450 g mat. This kit is 600 g Heavy Duty.
Can I lay Cure It over my old felt roof?
No. Cure It's guidance is to strip the old roof back to the joists, replace rotten joists and secure loose ones, and lay a new, completely dry OSB3 deck.
Can it go onto concrete?
Yes, using Cure It Concrete Primer, sold separately. Never apply Cure It directly onto brickwork.
What if it's cold or it rains?
Only lay Cure It in dry conditions, and use winter hardener in cold weather. The resin will not cure at or below freezing. If it rains while you're laminating, stop and cover the roof with a polythene (visqueen) sheet.
How much hardener do I add?
Between 1 % and 4 % to both resin and topcoat, measured with the safety dispenser and following the guidance on the Cure It mixing bucket. Mixed resin generally gives 20–40 minutes of working time, depending on temperature.
